PROJECT BACKGROUND
Granite State Manufacturing (GSM), a renowned manufacturer of complex electromechanical systems and a key supplier of DoD equipment, faced a critical juncture when they secured a large DoD contract. Their objective was to establish in-house abrasive blasting and painting capabilities to meet the stringent requirements of the contract.
CHALLENGES
GSM encountered several challenges in their quest to fulfill the DoD contract. The need to integrate blast and paint capabilities into their existing manufacturing operations posed significant logistical and operational hurdles. Additionally, keeping noise levels low was paramount, as the plant required a noise-sensitive environment due to minimal hearing protection requirements.
SOLUTION
To address these challenges, GSM partnered with BlastOne to devise a comprehensive blast and paint solution. BlastOne proposed a tailored solution consisting of a Blast Booth with noise-reducing panels, a U-Shape Abrasive Recovery system, Dust Collection equipment, as well as a Paint Booth, Make-Up Air Unit, and Paint Mix Room. This solution not only met GSM’s immediate needs but also provided flexibility to accommodate short and long-term demands.

BlastOne was engaged by GSM at the onset of their efforts to define a blast and paint solution, aligning with their pursuit of the DoD contract. The project resulted in shortened project timelines, cost savings, and environmental improvements, while also resolving OSHA compliance concerns. Ultimately, GSM emerged stronger, equipped with enhanced capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the defense industry.
