Common uses of industrial heat shrink and shrinkwrap plastic for containment purposes

1. Containment for buildings, maintenance and construction

When a building site, maintenance facility, or housing becomes damaged due to storms, fire, floods, or other environmental conditions, or other wear and tear, the roof of a structure can be open to significant exposure which allows for damage. The building itself and the contents of the structure are left wide open to the environment. The longer the structure or site is left exposed or compromised, the extent of the damage can become worse. Industrial heat shrink and shrinkwrap containment can help! Shrink wrap is a viable, cost-effective solution that can tide you over until permanent repairs are made. Industrial shrink wrap is durable, longstanding, strong, and often outperforms other methods of protecting property such as boards or tarps. 2. Containment for environmental purposes and dust control

When you are attempting to protect the environment from dangerous aspects of the building itself. Asbestos and lead abatement is a good example. As asbestos and lead is being removed from a building or structure, we need to protect surrounding environment. Heavy duty shrink wrap can completely contain the dangerous asbestos or lead, offering an affordable and completely effective measure against environmental contagion and dust hazards.

BlastOne specializes in the sale and installation of 9 mil (225 µm) and 12 mil (300 µm) flame resistant thermo polyethylene heat shrink and shrinkwrap with ultraviolet index (UVI) for longevity.  Blastone containment shrink wrap products are certified to N.F.P.A. 701 in large and small scale tests. We have used them extensively in site installation design and installation of the process of Environmental Containment, which exceeds the SSPC Guide 61: Class 1 and Class 2 standards and requirements.

How to install construction and scaffold shrink wrap

To install BlastOne shrink wrap (flame retardant or standard) Environmental Containment;

1. Cover the desired containment site/object/area with the required industrial shrink wrap – whether flame retardant or standard – then seal the seams with special shrink joining tape.
2. Once the shrink wrap is in place, apply using the gas fired heat gun, use high temperature.
3. The application of the hot air joins and bonds the sheets of Thermo poly film shrink wrap containment together, forming an impermeable covering/film over or around the desired site framework or scaffold.
4. The BlastOne scaffold containment shrink wrap film or sheeting is shrunk by up to 20-40% to form a robust, weathertight and moisture resistant covering which will contain nearly all debris whether it be from grinding, painting, blasting, sandblaster, spray-painting, lead abatement or asbestos residuals, airborne dust and other site debris and dust.

NOTE: please use the correctly specified product for Environmental Containment, to avoid containment failure, water ingress, dust escapage, loss of fugitive particles, property damage or safety risks. Joining tapes for heat shrink are particularly relevant as well as using flame retardant containment sheeting or flame resistant scaffold sheeting as specified. The use of cables are not preferred and using strapping with special high tensile properties is desired.
