PROJECT BACKGROUND
One of California’s largest utility sandblasters was struggling to meet their timeline for the project completion of a very large five million gallon tank. The 30 mil’s of coating had proved difficult to remove and had caused delays in the project schedule.
RESULTS
We tested GMA ToughBlast Garnet and slag to remove 30 mil coating. ToughBlast had a production rate at 150 ft2/hr which is twice as fast as the slag production rate.

CONCLUSION
During the trial, consumption of the GX2 Garnet was 900lbs/hr, almost 50% less than the slag. Dust levels were reduced by 70%, increasing visibility and safety for the blasters.
Additionally, using ToughBlast was 50% faster and used 72% less abrasive per ft2 for the Heber Water Treatment Plant blasting crew.
